Massage & Bodywork

Welcome to Professional Massage & Bodywork with Holistic Massage Therapist, Linda Bailey at Beautylicious Spa Treatment Rooms, based at The Thistle Hotel, Inverness. I offer Holistic Massage & Bodywork, which includes:

  • Swedish Massage
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Manual Lymph Drainage Massage
  • Heat Massage Treatments

These services can feature Passive Stretches & Muscle Energy Technique (MET) if/when appropriate.  Massage is a form of therapeutic touch that has been used for healing all over the world for thousands of years. We all have a natural instinct to rub a sore spot or ache on our bodies, or to give someone a hug for comfort. Massage has developed from this instinct and is recognised as one of the most effective ways to relax, revive and heal the body, mind, and soul.

There are many styles of massage and many different techniques. I will use a range of strokes, holds, stretches, mobilisations and movements combined with intuition and sensitivity. There are no fixed routines! The client's needs, input and feedback are very important: a good therapist works together WITH you, and does not do massage TO you!

Treatments may also include other bodywork techniques such as passive stretches, Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), joint mobilisations and suggested exercises and stretches to do at home. Therefore massage & bodywork is very suitable to treat many physical problems. This means that the benefits of a regular massage session are greatly increased.

Massage works in various ways. Physically it stimulates the skin, muscles and other bodily tissues, which relieves pain, relaxes muscles, improves circulation, removes toxins, and promotes digestion. At the same time massage lifts the spirit and calms the mind, which also benefits your body. A treatment can be deeply relaxing, or reviving and stimulating, depending on your needs. Massage is very effective in treating stress-related problems.

Of course massage can also simply be a treat for yourself or a loved one!

What happens during a treatment?

All sessions last approximately 60 minutes.

Before treatment takes place there will be a 15 minutes consultation during which a detailed medical history will be taken, any medication you are taking will be recorded.  This enables the development of a treatment plan to suit your individual needs.

A treatment plan lasting approximately 40-45 minutes will be agreed with you before any treatment takes place.

During your treatment you will be kept covered with towels to protect your modesty.  Extra heating is always available for those who feel the cold.

At the end of the treatment you will have the opportunity to discuss any questions you may have. You will be given an aftercare advice sheet to take home with you.  This outlines the things you should do & those things you should avoid.
